“Bryce and I were actually set up a year before we started dating by my maid of honor, Erin, to attend his fraternity formal in 2015. That night didn’t exactly go as planned but lucky for us (and Facebook) I sent him a “Happy Birthday” text a year later. That simple text was followed by social invitations, our first date on April 8th, 2016 and a “re-do” of formal.”
“We had plans to go to Abita Brewery with friends to celebrate my birthday. Early that week, Bryce asked me if I was getting my nails done that week (I know right?!) I told him yes and naturally asked why…he played it off as to say he had remembered me saying I needed to get them done so the conversation ended there. A couple days later, he texted me saying that he wanted to take me to brunch on the Lakefront in Mandeville before going to Abita, just the two of us, to treat me for my birthday and I was all for it. I had my suspicions but I really didn’t want to get myself worked up for nothing! That Saturday, Bryce was very adamant about the schedule for the day…we HAD to be at the Lakefront for 10, because “it was Veteran’s Day weekend and there would probably be traffic…” I complied and we made it to the Lakefront right on time. Of course I was alert, checking out my surroundings but I was convinced that he wasn’t going to propose as he knew I wanted my family there but it was just us walking the lakefront. We came upon a sweet little gazebo and as I’m busy admiring the Christmas decor, he turned me around, simply told me how much he loved me, stuck his hand in his jacket pocket and out popped Cody (his best man, who had been hiding behind a tree-as well as kicked multiple people out of the gazebo prior to our arrival) snapping pictures. Bryce got down on one knee, asked me to marry him and I couldn’t have said yes fast enough. I immediately heard screams coming from across the street and looked up to see my family walking toward us! It was such a special morning on the lakefront and then we were able to celebrate the rest of the day with our closest friends!”
The Picture Perfect Location
“We chose Oak Alley because it was the location of one of our “first dates” the summer we started dating. Oak Alley was initially going to be the site of the proposal, but I’m super inquisitive and nosey and figured it out so he had to create a plan B!”
“Our wedding is Saturday, November 17th! We are getting married at St. Francis of Assisi in Donaldsonville, the church my parents were married and I was baptized. Our reception will be at The Cabin in Burnside.”
