French Quarter Engagement {Andrea & Keith} New Orleans, Louisiana

Engagement

Originally from St. Louis, Andrea and Keith had made the big move to New Orleans to start a new chapter in their lives. “Moving to New Orleans has been a big move for us, especially me, since we are both from and love our hometown where so many of our friends and family are. However, we absolutely cannot get enough of the New Orleans historic, ornate, and unique architecture, along with the huge, undeniably beautiful oak trees. For these, you can’t beat the French Quarter (particular in the quite nooks that tourists have yet to discover) and the wide spanning City Park.”

The Beginning

Keith and Andrea were introduced by a mutual friend at a work happy hour. “I was just starting off at the company, and Keith had just moved back to St. Louis from one of our office locations in New Orleans. While I had always been skeptical of ‘work relationships’, Keith was quite forward about his interest, and we soon ended up on our first date at a small garden cafe for lunch. The rest is history! Despite chaotic work schedules and international travel, we spent nearly every day together just after the first date.”

The Proposal

“With Christmas soon approaching and us planning our trip back to STL for the holidays, I was cramming our weekends full with various events, not leaving much time for Keith to make his move. However, Keith made a point to get one Saturday brunch in (which is my favorite) before we headed back! I came downstairs to Christmas music (which was usually my thing, not so much Keith’s 🙂 ) and there was a gift bag on the counter. Keith told me that he wanted to start a new tradition, and as I opened the bag, he explained that he wants to start collecting ornaments for the significant events and new places we go in our lives. The first ornament he was giving me said, “New Home Sweet Home, 2017.” I responded, “Are we moving again?!” (as we had just moved to New Orleans about 6 months before). “Noooo, that’s for New Orleans!” So I said thank you, acknowledged the sweet gesture and went to put the ornament on the tree. Somehow, I walked directly to the spot on the tree where he had put the engagement ring dangling inside a clear ornament. After a bit of fiddling to get the ring out of the ornament and untied from the string, he got down on his knee and asked me spend the rest of our lives together!”

The Upcoming Wedding

Andrea and Keith’s wedding will be in New Orleans at Elms Mansion on St. Charles! “Most of our guests will be from out of town, including several from Keith’s family in Scotland, so we are excited to be able to show them some of the fun New Orlean’s wedding traditions and share a weekend in the city with everyone. The wedding will be on Friday so that we can, hopefully, convince everyone to keep the party going and come out for brunch and a fun day in the French Quarter on Saturday!”
