Leading up to any session, I am constantly checking the weather for last minute changes. Well the day of Maddy and Braxton’s engagement session, Mother Nature decided to shift quickly an hour before. Literally. One. Hour. Before! Hair and makeup were done, outfits were ready, cars were making their way to City Park. As soon as I drove up, the thick rain stopped and the sun starting peeping through the mossy trees that fill the parks landscape. Puddles were in every step on the paths, the grass had turned into mud, but when I greeted Maddy and Braxton upon their arrival, smiles were the first thing I saw.
Maddy and Braxton met in 2007 at a Mardi Gras parade. Soon after, they started dating and have been together ever since. “Just to give you a background – When we were in college I always told him I didn’t care how long we were together I didn’t want to get engaged until I was finished with school. I ended up graduating nursing school in 2015 and he was finished with his masters in accounting, so we decided to move in together.”
About a year later they went on their first family vacation together with Maddy’s family to Destin, Florida. On a random night, no different than any other, Braxton asked Maddy to walk on the beach with him. “I figured he just wanted to get out of the condo, but we ended up walking on the beach and talking. As the walk continue – out of no where – he asks me to marry him. This was so unexpected. We never even looked or talked about rings, so I was shocked that he picked out the perfect ring for me. I prefer not to have a lot of attention on me so I was so happy that he chose to propose with just us.”
